Crap.
I’m back in the hand (or, as some might say, the Murder Mitten).
It’s cool to be home, and very home-y in my apartment (which is cooler
than I remember, really), but I’d rather be in Chicago with the girls.
Also, I am somewhat regretting not taking the job, but I’m sure this is
just a temporary thing, and I know I’ll be better off in the long run,
anyways.
Thus far this week, I’ve just been running errands, setting up doctors’
appointments, and getting back to school. It’s a lot, but it’s not so bad,
I suppose. There’s been some fiasco with one of my classes being dropped,
but this has been diffused, I think.
Also, I now have a flickr account here:

On there are the remainder of the great ton of pictures I took over the summer.
In conclusion, I offer:

One week left. Mega wack.
Comforted by the fact that I will be bringing back with me new mannerisms, new personal hygiene habits, a cardigan, new pants, $, and other things that are even better.
I’ve stood my ground and am for certain going back to school, in spite of the cool offer I received. It would be cool to have money-type jams and be financially independent, but I like going to school, too.
Lindsey and I went to the art museum today (or, rather, continued our prior visit, which we’ve been trying to do the past month or so), as I only had to work two hours. It was rad. We got to see some of Jeff Wall’s work (the current exhibit), which was truly overwhelming. One of our favorites was this one:

Again, overwhelming and great. This was a much more successful mission than our attempt to catch a Godard film at the Music Box last night, which was thwarted by the Weather. The winds came in and took out a shit ton of trees, soaked us, and stole their power. Ah well.
The weekend is more or less plan-less; I think I’m going to go to the beach, buy some more cardigans, and maybe pick up some more wax while I still have cash to spare. We may also go on a boat tour.

I don’t think blogging from work is a very good idea, that’s why I never do it.
However, some situations require such drastic measures; for instance,
Brandon this week sent me a song. I’ve listened to said song about 6-7 times
in the last 24 hours. That said, I’m certain you can understand that this is one
of those situations. I really have to share this song.

Also, I’ve got but two weeks left. I’m pretty bummed about that, but plans are
already in the works to get certain folks up to MI to visit, and for yours
truly to drop down to Cinncinasty + Chicago, so at least I’ve something to
look forward to.
Also also I’m getting close to finishing the latest version of my website.
Prepare to have your mind melted, unless you know nothing of XML
and array sorting, in which case you may find it only mildly cool.
Boner.

Three weeks, to the day, till I have to extract myself from this fair city.
Bummer. It’s just starting to set in, both with myself and my employers,
who’ve taken to bribery. I will not be bought!
(Note: not by mere money alone, anyways, or iPhones)
My family came into town this weekend, which was quite nice. We did
touristy things, and they got to meet my friends, and we all ate very well.
I also got to tell them what I wanted for my birthday, after they listed all the
things that they were going to surprise me with, and why they weren’t going
to. I am a spoiled child.
After taking my parents through Millennium Park (more tourist stuff, I know),
and sharing with them my love for Chicago, we parted ways, which was a bummer.
I get to see them soon, I suppose, but that will be in Detroit, and I’d rather not
go back there. It’s become more complex to extract myself from here, and it
certainly isn’t going to get simpler. However, I would not have it any other way.

Today, it is August.
I never much cared for this month, as some of you certainly can understand. This summer especially, I really have no use for it. I’ve been thinking lately that this may in fact go down as one of my favorite summers thus far, if not the favorite. This is a good thought, I en joy it. However, I don’t enjoy the fact that I will have to go back in a month. I’d much rather stay; it’s especially a drag know that I could if I wanted (but I shouldn’t and I won’t). Ah.
This weekend marked the coming of the Bird to the Windy City, and it was really fun. Steve got along pretty well with my little gang (really no cool way to put that, sadly), and I think everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.
Work has been slow lately, but it’s not such a bad thing. I really have hardly anything to work on, so much of my day is centered around hour+ long lunch sessions and buying things on the internet, for example this record.
Non-work has been really great lately.
Also, I’ve done this EP. It’s a bit long for an EP (20 minutes or so), but short for an album, and a bit rough to call a finished product. If anyone still reads this, please tell me if you like it.

Busy as usual. The week has been very relaxing and nice so far, I must say.
My sister came out for the weekend, which was very nice; we spent the weekend doing what I do most weekends as of late: we hung out with the girls, went to the beach, walked around, and rode around on buses. Sunday was a bit dramatic, unfortunately, as I attempted to cram in way too many things, and got really really lost multiple times. Once I got my bearings, though, I was able to meet the girls for a screening of Strangers on a Train, which I very much enjoyed.
The rest of the week has been work as usual, only much less busy. Meg and I caught Handsome Furs and Besnard Lakes Monday, which was a really really great show. There was a good deal of wailing, a smoke machine, and some three part harmonies.

Tonight, Meg and I caught Harry Potter, which was fairly fun to watch. However, it was made better by the fact that, in missing the first showing of the film, we caught the one and only Michael Cera walking in to the theater (along with the rest of the cast of Superbad, but I know nothing about them). It was sublime. It was my first real celebrity sighting in Chicago, so I’m fairly pleased. I didn’t say anything to him, though I wanted to. We did, though, stand about 5 feet away from him and stare until we felt uncomfortable. Sometimes that’s all one can do.

The X-Files is a really great show.
This past week or so has been pretty wild; Pitchfork was warm but fun, most nights were spent with my new friends playing board games and drinking cheap bear (as we don’t go out in Chicago, nor do we need to), I went and saw Mirah (who was amazing / adorable), and also saw the Decemberists and the Grant Park Orchestra (which was incredibly crowded and not so amazing, even when they played the Tain). Things have sort of blurred together. I’ve received a semi-vague job offer, or rather a chance to enter the real world. Sort of staggering to think about, really. Now I really must get to bed, but will be posting photos / videos soon. (I did record the titular line from ‘Daydream Nation’; kudos to anyone who gets the reference)

Admittedly, I’m a bit bummed.
Could be that I only slept a few hours in the last couple days, and that the few hours I got last night were on my floor; however, I’m guessing it’s the fact that I just had a really great week off and am now going back to work. Yeah, that’s got to be it. Not that I’ve got a beef with work, I just have more fun playing.
The week’s been crazy. I’ve cleared out my allowance (that I give myself) on such things as as a moleskine, a 500 gb external hd (was mad cheap, had to do it), and Goo on vinyl (sort of regretting that decision, but come on, I had to do it).
moleskine drawings (us at the beach), goo:

We spent a good amount of time at the beach, played some board games, and boozed a bit, so I’m baked and tired. I like my new friends very much, and look forward to throwing down more this week (though perhaps not drinking so much during work weeks). Bed time (in my Aunt’s excessively large king size bed). I hope to avoid insane dreams (I had ones last night involving a trailer for a movie about Che Guevara staring Gael Garcia Bernal, something about Harry Potter, and other things I can’t quite remember but am sure are equally weird).
I’ve also been giving a lot of high fives, though I don’t often find myself in pajama pants. Only some are so privileged to see this rare sight in the wild. Perhaps privileged isn’t the right word.

A couple weeks ago, I might have been afraid of the idea of a few days off work. However, I’ve found myself more occupied than ever. Digging it.
Went to the beach today. We smoked, read, napped, and got sunburned. Some of us got it worse than others, but that can be expected. We then retreated back to play Life and drink High Life, the irony of which was duly noted. The evening reached a lull until I announced the upcoming Grinderman show, which has turned into a plot of sweet vengeance for my new friends. I’m just in it for the jams, of course, but it’s good to see people happy.
As of tomorrow morning, I have my own apartment. There’s talk of a Saturday pajama party, but a regular party might just have to suffice. Also, I finally got another Nunchuk, so I can box people now. And I have an overwhelming amount of Miis.
